Tot voor enkele generaties verstopten mensen hun emoties omdat het zo hoorde en omdat er geen keuze was: zwijg en werk verder.’
Sindsdien is er veel veranderd. Dat we onze emoties bespreekbaar kunnen maken, is een goede zaak. Maar als emoties delen dwingend wordt als gevolg van die ‘bevrijding’, hebben we de ene plicht ingeruild voor de andere. En blijven we sukkelen met de plaats van emoties in ons leven.
I am professor in philosophy of medicine & ethics. Next to that, I am author, opinion maker and corporate consultant in the area of philosophy and ethics.
I hold a position at the medical faculty of Ghent University.
I was research fellow for five years at the Radboud University Nijmegen.

Since September 1, 2021, I have been the head of think tank Itinera.
I am also involved into public debate and comments frequently on national and international media on philosophical and ethical issues.
